Levitating Device

Space Cruiser

Ok, here we go... So I decided to do a spin on something that takes me back to childhood days when I spent more time on bodyboarding since they didn't and still don't allow surfboards on the city bus. Also, bodyboarding is super rad but that's another topic. The one board that stuck out to me was called the Mach 8-TX by Morey Boogie. It had tons of little dimples, golf ball like all over the bottom and supposedly made to go faster than the standard flat bottom. I also learned later that the Willis Brothers had a similar theory with larger dimples called the Phaser bottom which they made for big north shore surf around that era. All very intriguing and I know many different versions of dimples in surfboard design have popped up over the years but for some reason that bodyboard never left my mind. That along with some fantasy sci-fi spacecraft was the foundation for this whatever you wanna call it. Now, I know there are many possible variables at play here such as potential textured bottom surface drag, positive & negative aspects of cavitation or turbulence, dynamic surface tension & boundary layer manipulation, increase & decrease of wetted surface area, Reynolds number ratio of inertia & friction and a ton more laws of physics.... But in all honesty, most of that stuff starts to get confusing and hurts my brain so I'll just keep it relatively simple by letting you know ahead of time that I'm doing this as an experiment out of pure curiosity. I have no real expectations on how it should perform and am not too concerned either because deep down I just wanted to feed my brain this ongoing wonder about how I would do it if given the opportunity. Think of an Oreo cookie. You could hear, read, touch, or smell it all you'd like but until you put one of them in your mouth and taste it for yourself you wouldn't know just what was going on inside all of that goodness haha.. Well, that's my unpolished two cents. Feel free to share your thoughts, and remember, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
