Flexperimentail
Flex Tail
Here's a fun little back story on this 6'2" Flextail Twinzer. In 2010 I was making a bunch of these short wide and relatively flat stubby boards that I was absolutely hooked on for a few years we called the GUPPY. My friends and I loved how easy they were to surf for a good while, but naturally, with time I kinda grew out of it and ventured into other designs and feels. However, I never quite forgot how much fun I had on them little Guppies.. Lately, I've been missing what those boards did for me so much so that I had set out to revisit the old guppy design. After years of tossing the idea around I finally executed it in 2020. This time around though, I stretched the whole outline to make it more of a step-up version. And to compliment it so we wouldn't lose its maneuverability, I made it a flextail and of course, threw in my favorite Twinzer setup! So far I've surfed it on well overhead opened face days down to thigh-high little reef grinders and the results have been remarkable. I immediately noticed that It doesn't ride like a full-on step-up at all, in a good way, as far as getting on the rail and turning goes. It's got a solid positive kind of rebound that when you load up your weight coming in and through your turns it feels as if a spring uncoils underneath and shoots you out of your turns with more speed and drive than any board I've ever ridden. It's wild... I'm beyond hooked. I thought I was only gonna use it on bigger days but forget that, it was a blast in thigh-high reef grinders too. Super stoked! I've been gravitating to it lately. Definitely will be offering this build to anyone lookin to explore.
